A Moment of Clarity

A Moment of Clarity

At Yosemite, snowing in the winter is anything but uncommon. Visitors come to enjoy the transitioning landscape at this paradise. However, we were only half the way through February and it is already said to be a record-breaking February so far. I still remember driving through I-120 into the valley on that day under almost a white-out condition and the High Sierra was entirely blanketed in snow. Every few miles I have to stop my car, walk outside and clean the windshield so that I can still see the tiniest hint of where the road goes. I was moving painfully slow that day.

However, once I made my way into the valley, the snow slowly stopped. The valley suddenly turned into a silent heaven. It felt almost as if the entire world was still on that moment. I was standing in front of the meadow holding my camera, felt totally overwhelmed by this pristine landscape that I have never experienced in my life before. Then when I moved my sight into the Half Dome, I saw it started to break out from the dense fog just five minutes ago. There was a very brief moment of clarity during this entire day of blizzard. But it doesn’t last long. Only five minutes later, the fog came back and claimed the Half Dome again. But to me, this five minutes moment felt more like an eternity that tops many best moment  I have had at Yosemite over the years.
